Hi! I'm Heather Sager

he saw it before I did

My husband James, is an expert at The Language of Heather.

He reminds me to pack snacks if we’re going to Ikea, otherwise I’ll be rage level angry by the time we round the corner to the lamps.

He noticed I was more deaf in my right ear when we started dating, so he always sat on my left so I could talk to him more easily.

He slides a note pad in front of me when I’m spiraling because he knows I just need to make a list.

He knows that even though I got him Sanders Chocolate Caramels for Christmas, I’m going to eat 70% of the container he “hid” behind his creatine, while he’s trapped in our toddlers room doing bedtime.

James is a Projector in Human Design, which basically means he sees things other people miss. And unlike me (hi, external processor 🙋‍♀️), he doesn't say much unless it matters.

So when we were driving home from the Portland airport in February 2020 (right before the world shut down) we'd just come from HPX Live when he said something that surprised me:

"I think you should do that coaching certification."

I started listing all the reasons it didn't make sense. I'd just started getting traction as a "speaking coach" and nailed my offer. I was supposed to rinse and repeat that shit, right? Stay in my nichey lane.

Plus, high performance coaching sounded way harder to sell than a signature talk because in the long list of things to work on in a business… "working on myself" is usually the least sexy (and least desired) option.

He waited for me to finish.

"Heather. I've been to your events. I've watched you do this for 10 years. This is what you naturally do, why are you hiding behind presentations?"

I didn't have a good answer for that.

So I became a certified high performance coach in May of 2020 and have recertified FIVE times since.

Up until these last couple weeks, I've rarely shared that publicly or marketed it. I've only talked about it with my private clients.

But something has become really clear to me this past year, and I'd be doing you a disservice if I kept it quiet any longer.

People come to me because they have an external problem: a message that feels scattered no matter how many times they rewrite it. Stages they want to book but can't quite bring themselves to pitch for. Delivery that is ho-hum or they’re rambly or have a hard time speaking off the cuff.

But here's what I've learned after working directly with 300+ experts: those aren't actually the problem.

A scattered message isn't a positioning problem, it's a clarity problem that starts way before the Google doc.

The speaker who wants to get booked more, nine times out of ten it's not their pitch, but rather deep down they're still asking themselves who am I to be on that stage.

Mediocre delivery isn’t really from nerves as much as it’s the absence of CONVICTION.

So I could continue to brand myself as the person who fixes the external thing.

Or I could help you figure out (and fix) what’s causing the problems.

Guess which one actually works.

And this goes way beyond speaking.

It's the person who keeps redesigning their website and tweaking their offers.
The one who buys another course on launching, or social media, or sales funnels, convinced that the market has changed, so they must try new tactics and continue tweaking.
The one who keeps trying new strategies instead of seeing one through.

Here’s what I NEED you to hear:

The problem usually isn't usually the strategy, and often it’s not even the execution.

The problem is YOU. And I mean that in the most loving, James-sitting-on-your-left way possible.

Because you're living in your head way too much. Whether you’re second-guessing your ideas before they leave your mouth or quietly wondering if anyone actually cares what you have to say.

You're trying to fix the outside when the inside is what needs attention.

When the person running the business isn't growing— their capacity, their resilience, their ability to make good decisions under pressure, to handle failure without spiraling, to keep going when it gets hard, the business feels it. Every. Freaking. Time.

Because the business only rises to the level of the person running it.

I mean, there’s a reason this meme took off ;)

This is not a fixed thing, this is absolutely growable.

Your capacity, your confidence, your ability to lead yourself, your resilience, your critical thinking skills, your influence— these are skills (specially HABITS).

And they are TRAINABLE. That's literally what high performance coaching exists to do.

That's the work I've been doing quietly with private clients for years.

Helping you become the leader your next level requires.

And it's the work I'm ready to do front and center in my business.

So you're going to start noticing a shift in my content, in how I talk about myself, in how I talk to YOU. I might challenge your thinking a little more than I used to. I’ll talk about things that go beyond speaking and beyond business.

Because I believe you too want to be a high performer… to achieve success over the long term (whatever that means to you) WHILE deepening the relationships that matter most in your life and improving your overall well being.

And if that resonates with you, buckle up, because I truly believe this is going to be an incredible year for us both ❤️

I'd genuinely love to hear from you, hit reply and tell me what your definition of success looks like or a big goal you’re working toward.

More soon.

PS - if you're wondering, Hey Heather.. will you still teach speaking? Yes. I love running my live Signature Talk Accelerator cohorts. I'm planning on running another one this fall, stay tuned.

But I’m working on a new coaching program built from the science backed High Performance Coaching curriculum. I’d like to keep it small, 12 business owners who are ready to take big action in breaking through to their next level. They don’t need more information or a course, they want a coach to see them, to understand their business and PUSH THEM... to point out what they can’t see and help them BECOME the leader that next leap requires.

It will be a 6 month container and include a live retreat here with me in Bend, OR. If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, hit reply. I’ll be shaping this based on who’s in the group, so I would love to talk with you to see how this can serve you..

If you’re looking for a 1:1 business coach, I'm opening 2 private client spots starting at the end of April for high performance coaching business coaching. Hit reply and let’s see if we might be a good match.
