17 hours in the car, here’s what I learned

Whew, the last 2 weeks were an ADVENTURE.When I shared with a friend that we’d be driving to Phoenix for spring break, she thought I was insane. It’s a 17 hour drive… and we have 3 energetic boys (one still in diapers), so I see her point. My husband, James, was far more confident than I… I’m usually the planner, but I relinquished everything to him and he mapped out 2 overnight motel stops on the way down (and just one on the way back after our week). I put myself in charge of car food....

he saw it before I did

My husband James, is an expert at The Language of Heather. He reminds me to pack snacks if we’re going to Ikea, otherwise I’ll be rage level angry by the time we round the corner to the lamps. He noticed I was more deaf in my right ear when we started dating, so he always sat on my left so I could talk to him more easily. He slides a note pad in front of me when I’m spiraling because he knows I just need to make a list.He knows that even though I got him Sanders Chocolate Caramels for...

miss america, turkeys and the betterment gap

It’s my 42nd birthday today and I’m exactly where I want to be. Feels a little astonishing to write that because of something I learned about myself years ago on a low ropes course.I took my team to an outdoor adventure park. This is back when I was the VP of Learning & Development for a management firm in healthcare. I was that manager who loved doing that stuff, but so did my team🤣. One time we went cosmic bowling and I got a TURKEY (3 strikes in a row) and got the nickname SagerBomb! But...

Why launching feels different right now

Hey! I promised to follow up with you today about launching and selling your offers, so here I am from my new coffee shop office*.I just glanced out the windows and it's SNOWING! Which should be normal since it's winder in Bend, OR... but this has been a weird season and we’ve barely seen a dusting of snow this year. It's the topic of ALL small talk here because our mountains have struggled to accumulate enough snow for ski season. This “off” season thing seems to also be happening online with...

my schedule right now 👀 [+ personal update]

Heeey FriYAY! Sharing with you today a little behind the scenes at Team Heather Sager because if you’re anything like me, you love knowing what’s happening backstage in someone’s business. My husband, James and I have both been working from home since we moved to Bend (he’s a financial advisor and his firm is based in Portland so he's been traveling back there 1-2x month for the last 2 years with all else via zoom). We’ve been tag teaming child care for our 3rd kiddo while our older boys are at...

2 apps I added to the mix last month

Hey! Hope your February is off to a great start! Over here I’m feeling super good about January.I decided my personal theme for this year is: Read. Run. Revel. Read (or listen to) 100 books Run (or walk) 1000 miles Revel in the moment The word “revel” means to take great pleasure in something; to enjoy something openly or with enthusiasm. It also means to do it boisterously, out loud. ← which I plan to do a lot more of.I’ve since added to that list, deciding that I want to be the kind of...

Later me problem (narrator: it became a now problem)

So I have this plant in my living room. I can't tell if it's a tree or a shrub, I think tree? I'm not a plant person. I mean, I like plants, but historically speaking, they usually die under my watch. But this one was a gift from my bookkeeper a few years back, and I've somehow kept it alive, probably because it only needs to be watered like once a month and I can handle that level of commitment. When I unboxed it, there was this little instruction card that said to replant it in a bigger pot...

📣 Enrollment is open for the Signature ERA with a special 8 week talk building cohort. Don’t want to build your magnetic talk right now? Click here to opt-out of these invites and I’ll turn off my email mic until the doors have closed. Hey Reader, When I decided to bring back a live Signature Talk building cohort after 2+ years, I had a moment of panic. I’d been running my program on evergreen without live launches or live cohorts (but still with live support) as I reduced my hours...

what in the substack is this?

Hi Reader!Earlier this year a recipe creator I follow posted a link to get her weekly meal plan in my inbox each week for stupid cheap, so I snagged it.I was directed to this app called Substack, which confused me.Why wasn’t she using her own blog? What is this app? Is this a recipe site?I may be cool, but I blissfully live under a rock and am not an early adopter to new things (unless of course they are new things I create, then I’m all balls in).For a few weeks I read and followed along.But...

I closed The Speaker Society 😳

Hey!! How have you been? My oldest’s soccer team needed a coach and– hold my PSL– did you know I played super competitive soccer? I even made it to one of the final brackets in the CocaCola Harlem Cup when I was 14!🏆 (goalie!) Of course I marched into Play It Again Sports and bought a whiteboard, cones and pennies for scrimmages (which are those neon mesh tanks so we can tell who’s on which team). I was SO freaking excited to help these boys become EPIC players. But here’s what I didn’t...
